Annual Schools Exhibition at The Burton Art Gallery
2024 Burton Schools Exhibition, 1st March to 7th April
On Friday 22nd March we had the pleasure of presenting awards to some of the many entrants in the Burton Art Gallery Schools Exhibition. The exhibition is an impressive selection of the art produced in local schools from early years to A levels, a wonderful demonstration of the creative skills of our local children and their teachers.
The Arts Society has a policy of encouraging art in the wider community so it is our privilege to arrange judging and provide prizes and certificates to some of the entries, but it must be emphasised that this is an exhibition and not a competition. The huge benefit is for the pupils to see their work beautifully exhibited by The Burton Art Gallery. The cash prizes to the schools are a welcome addition to their tight budgets and the pupils of course enjoy receiving a prize.
Friday afternoon was a happy and joyful occasion, with proud families and teachers enjoying seeing the pupils receiving their prizes. Please try and visit the Exhibition before it closes on 7th April, it will fill you with joy and hope!
The Arts Society provides children and young people with exciting opportunities to get involved in creative arts activities. Our work with young people builds a lasting enthusiasm for the arts and an awareness of arts heritage and its conservation.
Young Arts opportunities are organised by individual Societies. Some Societies have ongoing Young Arts Groups while others fund one-off Young Arts Projects.
Young Arts Groups Young Arts Groups are Society based. Volunteers organise regular arts related activities for members aged 8-18 years. Young Arts Groups usually meet about once a month and a typical programme might include practical, creative workshops and gallery visits.
Young Arts Projects NADFAS Societies conduct a wide range of Young Arts Projects ranging from running arts awards to funding artists in residence in primary schools.
Opportunities exist with support from your Committee for participating in church recording, church trails, and heritage volunteering.
